The body of a missing 10-year-old boy was found in the river Tuesday after falling into a storm drain during a severe storm. Authorities are still searching for two men trying to save him.

The boy was found approximately 0.5 miles from where he fell into the ditch that leads to the Wisconsin River.

Witnesses told police the boy fell into a ditch that brought water to the river through a tunnel at 6:30 a.m. Monday. Two men, aged 34 and 37, jumped into the water to save the boy, but all three were taken.

According to the authorities, the boy would have turned 11 on July 4.

The two men who were after the boy have not yet been found by the search and rescue team.

“Today is a terrible day,” said Aaron Lipsky, chief of the Milwaukee Fire Department. But nothing is as scary as the family there. Respect their sadness and privacy. ”

Strong storms on Monday brought thunderstorms, heavy rain and devastating winds to the Midwest and South, complicating rescue missions.

During Tuesday’s update, the fire department chief said the crew had called off rescue missions due to a dangerous situation. At some point during the search, authorities sent a drone into a 900-foot-long tunnel to better understand the underwater situation.

The dive team was later dispatched but had the misfortune of finding the missing person.

The search team moved the operation to another set of tunnels some 1,900 feet below ground.

“We’ll be doing this for a while,” Lipsky said at a briefing.

According to some reports, the police did not mention the identities of the missing man and boy, but they were all related.

The boy’s family told WDJT that he was playing catch with his father when he somehow fell into the water and his father chased after him. Another adult member of the family also jumped.
