The nursery teacher allegedly killed the 7-week-old baby because she couldn’t stop crying.

Taylor Barris, 24, waited more than three hours for help. Police said nursery workers Googled “shocked baby syndrome” when a baby girl, Maren Gallagher, who had fallen due to a head injury, was hospitalized.

Bellis called 911 on the afternoon of May 17 and reported to the newspaper in Forsyth, Illinois, that he did not respond.

Marin was taken to St. John’s Hospital and sentenced to death the next morning.

Bellis first told investigators that Maren had gotten sick after hitting the ball in kindergarten. Bellis initially said that she started crying after Maren hit the ball and got sick. So she called 911.

But in a second interview Tuesday, Barris said Maren actually hit the ball, but admitted she shook her baby out of frustration at crying.

The incident occurred at 10:40 am, but Belis was waiting for help until 2:05 pm.

“Taylor Googled ‘shocked baby syndrome’ information the night Maren was hospitalized and dying,” Macon County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Roger Pope said in a statement. I admitted it.

When Taylor got on the phone, she said she hadn’t responded for 20 minutes and was delayed or had apnea before the baby called EMS.

“It was clearly a careless act.”

Autopsy reports showed Maren died of blunt head trauma, Judge Jim Almon of the Sangamon District Court said.

Bellis was booked into the Macon County Jail Tuesday and was held there Friday on $250,000 bond. The day after his trial is set for July 15.
