The Conservative Party suffered a double defeat on inoculated elections held on Thursday for the re-election of seats in the Wakefield and Tiverton and Honiton constituencies, bringing to the fore the internal dissatisfaction with the person Boris Johnson.

In the Wakefieldwhich Boris Johnson’s Conservatives had won over Labor in 2019, has returned to the main opposition party, as widely expected.

In the Tiverton and Honiton There was the biggest overthrow of a majority ever in a snap election, as the Liberal Democrats took the seat despite the Conservatives winning it in 2019 by more than 24,000 votes.

The double defeat was followed by the unexpected resignation of the President of the Conservative Party (responsible for coordinating the election campaign) Oliver Dowden.

In a letter to the Prime Minister, Mr. Downen stated: “We can not continue as usual. “Someone has to take responsibility.”

It was another electoral blow for Boris Johnson, whose party lost nearly 500 city council seats in the May local elections.

Asked yesterday in Kigali, Rwanda, where he is attending a meeting of Commonwealth leaders, whether he would consider resigning in the event of a double defeat, Mr Johnson said no, saying it would be “crazy”.

Speaking after the defeats and the resignation of Dowden, the British Prime Minister stated: “I think as a government we need to listen to what the people are saying, especially about the difficulties they face with the cost of living, which I think is the number one issue for most people. “We have to recognize that there is more we need to do and we will certainly do it, we will continue to address the concerns of the people until we overcome this difficulty.”

However, his critics in the party, such as Sir Roger Galehave already begun to attack the Prime Minister again, who weeks ago won the vote of confidence of his parliamentary group, although with 148 deputies voting against him.

Sir Roger commented that Oliver Dowden is a decent man who resigned because “obviously he can not defend the indefensible”.

The new Wakefield MP, o Hardworking Simon Lightwood, He said that the citizens have shown that they are asking for change and that they are tired “of the lies and fraud they have seen from the Prime Minister”.

THE Liberal Democrat Richard Ford who won at Tiverton and Honiton said in his epic speech that “it’s time for Boris Johnson to leave and leave now”.

The leader of the official opposition Sir Kir Starmer he said: “This result is a clear judgment on a Conservative Party that has run out of energy and ideas.”
