In Shanghai, a Nio electric car crashed from its headquarters, killing two people.
The BBC reported that staff and employees from an associated company were in the car when it fell from the third floor on Wednesday.
The incident occurred around 5:20 pm (local time) in a facility on the third floor called the showroom, test site and parking lot.
The BBC reported that Nio had come under fire on Chinese social media after describing the case as “unrelated to the car itself”, later correcting it as “caused by the car”.
The statement said: “We are working with the Department of Public Safety to begin investigating and analyzing the cause of the accident.
“When we analyzed the situation on site, we were able to confirm that it was an accident (due to a car) at the beginning.”
He added: “I would like to express my deepest condolences to my colleagues and partners who were deeply saddened by this tragedy and lost their lives. A team was created to help the family.”
