Russian bloggers’ property seized due to “fake news” about the war in Ukraine

Veronica Belocherkovskaya is currently out of Russia herself. Prosecution began in mid-March, with authorities issuing arrest warrants against her.

A Moscow court has seized her property Russian blogger and founder of St. Petersburg magazine Sobaka.ru Veronika Belotserkovskaya, broadcast the Moskva agency, citing a spokeswoman for the court.

The decision to seize the assets had been made since April 26, the court said. Based on the decision committed a parking space in parking lot and an apartment in Moscow and St. Petersburg two houses, an apartment and a plot.

THE Veronica Belocherkovskaya was one of the first to be convicted under a new article of “fake news” about the actions of the Russian armed forces. Her criminal prosecution began in mid-March, and authorities issued an arrest warrant against her almost immediately. She is currently outside Russia.

The prosecution against Belocherkovskaya began after she posted some posts on her Instagram page, criticizing the Russian government’s decision to start a war against Ukraine.
