Recounting her traumatic experience, Cortez sided with women who opposed the Supreme Court ruling and spoke openly about their own experiences with abortion.
What does the abortion decision say?
The U.S. Supreme Court on Friday overturned the landmark 1973 ruling “Roe v. Wade “which recognized the constitutional right of a woman to have an abortion and legalized it throughout the country.
The ruling by the Constitutional Court has given a significant victory to Republicans and conservative religious people who want to restrict or ban the process.
“The Constitution does not grant the right to abortion,” the June 24 ruling by the US Supreme Court said.
“The power to regulate abortions must be returned to the people and their elected representatives,” he said.
Six of the nine judges voted in favor of the ban.
Three of the majority judges were appointed by Donald Trump. The decision deprives women of the right to decide whether to terminate a pregnancy, and many argue that the country is going back half a century.
