Thousands of postal workers across the UK are coming out to protest pay disputes.

The Communications Workers Union (CWU) has today warned that a national strike will take place today, calling on executives to receive substantial salaries.

About 114 post offices have been closed 24 hours a day, raising concerns about the same spread of strikes as in the 1970s.

Workers who threatened to freeze wages last year voted 97.3% to strike, making it the third largest postal worker this year.

The same workers should get a 2% raise this fiscal year, they say will be a “substantial significant reduction in wages.”

CWU’s announcement came after a redemption offer of only 3% (as of April 1), and the lump sum tax deduction of 500,500 was rejected due to “sad insufficiency”.

Andy Fury, the union’s deputy general secretary, stressed that the dispute was about “dignity and respect for hard-working workers.”

“No employee wants to be in this situation, but the postmaster would not be surprised if a member questioned a meaningless decision,” he said.

“This dispute is about the dignity and respect of hard-working employees. He is a senior official who provided unprecedented service to clients as a key worker during a pandemic.

“Our members feel betrayed and do not tolerate the disruption of living standards by civil servants who earn tens of millions of pounds a year from their efforts.

“There is ample funding for a reasonable salary increase. The implementation of this salary increase is a management option and is not necessary.

“Our message to the public is that this behavior and inconvenience is 100% responsible for postal management.

His message to the postmaster is “get the royal rewards, come to the bargaining table for important negotiations, and resolve this dispute.”

Fury did not rule out more summer action if workers’ demands are not met.

Walks to the post office have already taken place in May and June, after negotiations failed to resolve the dispute.

This summer is a lot like a lockout in that railroad and pipeline workers are on strike, causing travel problems across the country.

NHS staff, teachers and bureaucrats will also be voting across the country in the coming weeks.

A post office spokesman said most of the 11,500 branches did not play a role in the CWU’s decision.

“Usually there are 114 branches in the city center, managed directly by Correos, more than a third of which were open the day of the last strike,” they add.

“I am disappointed that the CWU has decided to strike, but I hope to reach a compensation agreement soon.”
