One of the government ministers said that Russia would be “literally obsessed” with starting a war with NATO.

Chris Philip also compared yesterday’s rocket attack on a Ukrainian shopping mall to a terrorist attack, calling it “sad and scary”.

The Technology Minister’s comments follow the Army commander’s intervention, suggesting that the current situation resembles the start of World War II.

When asked about the position of Chief of Staff General Patrick Sanders, Philp told Sky News:

“We don’t want to see escalations in broader conflicts.

“NATO is a much bigger and stronger bloc, so I think it’s crazy for Russia to try.

But this is far from Sir Patrick’s position.

“This is our 1937 moment,” Army leaders are expected to say tonight.

“We are not at war, but we must act quickly to prevent us from uniting to stop territorial expansion.

It came after Vladimir Putin’s army bombed a Kremenchuk store, killing at least 18 people and drawing international criticism.

Philp likened this to “terrorist acts” because he mentioned Britain’s efforts to support the Ukraine war.

As Russia continues to make slow progress in the Donbus region, the Ukrainian authorities continue to seek more military assistance from Western allies.

Elsewhere, Philp claimed that the government was loyal to British troops.

He was asked about reports that Defense Secretary Ben Wallace has asked Boris Johnson to increase Britain’s defense spending to 2.5% of GDP (20% per annum) by 2028 during the Ukraine War.

“It is clear that the minister, who is the secretary of state for the entire government, represents the prime minister and prime minister in their budgets, and they are properly considered when considering spending,” Philp said. ..

But this is a government loyal to our military. So it is above this 2% level. “
