A South Carolina man won $100,000 after trying strategies he learned while watching TLC’s “The Lottery Changed My Life.”

The man spent $25 a week on the lottery for three months. He won $500 in the first week, but after the game continued, he racked up more winning tickets and received $100,000 in the seventh week.

He won the grand prize on May 28 while playing Powerball tickets. According to the WCVB, the man initially thought he could only get $50,000 by matching the two numbers.

The lucky winner noticed that his wife checked the ticket and matched 5-4 white balls with red balls, and was lucky enough to see the total prize pool increase to $100,000.

“I didn’t even know how to play Powerball,” the man told a South Carolina lottery official.

After the big hit, a stranger bought a new car. He claims that he will continue playing strategy games and buying lottery tickets for three months.

According to the South Carolina lottery site, the odds of matching the four white balls and the red numbers in the powerball are 1,913,129.

TLC’s “The Lottery Has Changed My Life” showcases the lives of the general public who make a difference by earning money while playing the lottery.
