The dog, who had been missing for several days, was rescued from the drain by state troopers because he wasn’t fooled by the peanut butter and cheese.

The Golden Retriever Lira went missing near Binghamton, New York on Friday afternoon. Her owner, Rudy Fuller, was walking the two other dogs of Lira’s descendants when he heard the familiar wail Sunday morning.

“I said, ‘My God, this is Lira!'” the Führer said.

The Führer tried to use human food to get a 13-year-old dog out of a pipe under a country road, but the dog would not move. At that point, the Führer decided on all 911s.

State Trooper Jimmy Rasafon and his partner showed up within minutes. Seeing that he was the youngest of three, Lhasaphone decided to solve the problem himself.

Lhasaphone sank 15 feet in a narrow mile, and the Führer was estimated to be less than 2 feet in diameter.

“He dug and literally disappeared into the hole with a bullet with a choker,” said the Führer.

Somehow he was able to operate his hand and choker on the dog.

Lhasaphone came out with Lira, they were both wet.

The Führer thanked the soldiers for being kind enough to land and contaminate them to save the dog. Lira recovered well and went out for a walk with her neighbor again.

“I have to say that I got him out with a bridle, because he didn’t want to run away anymore,” said the Führer.

This is not the first time a pet has fallen into a drain.

When Lulu the Jack Russell Terrier hit a shiny pipe and got stuck for four days, her owner, Gale Fraser, hired a trench rescue. Passers-by notified the firefighters that they had started the operation 6 hours ago.

They used bulldozers, cutting equipment, shovels and hoes to drill holes in pipes more than 8 feet underground. They then went to the drain and pulled Lulu out.
