Regarding the plan for the reform of the Constitutional Court, von der Layen considered it “necessary to provide, through the legislature, a process for the selection of judges”.

She welcomed Ukraine’s adoption of a law aimed at ending “the oligarchs’ excessive influence in the economy”, but called on the country to “ensure its implementation”. in a legally solid manner “.

Von der Leyen also called for the adoption of “a law on the media, which would make Ukrainian legislation compliant with European Union standards and provide the necessary means for the independent media regulatory body”.

The leaders of the 27 agreed on June 23 in Ukraine the status of candidate country for EU membership.
