Hundreds of police had launched a manhunt for the young man who, using a high-powered rifle, opened fire on a crowd gathered for the US National Day parade in suburban Highland Park, killing at least six people and injuring 26 others.
The alleged perpetrator of the deadly attack against bystanders at the 4th of July parade near Chicago has been arrested, the Chicago Sun-Times newspaper reported Monday afternoon (local time) in its online edition, citing a source close to the police.
The 22-year-old was “taken into custody without incident”, according to the source cited by the newspaper of the American metropolis.
