Ghislaine Maxwell has filed papers to appeal her 20-year prison sentence for sex crimes including trafficking young girls to Jeffrey Epstein.

Maxwell filed for an appeal in New York federal court on Thursday, just a week after she was ordered to serve her sentence at a low-security prison in Danbury.

Maxwell in particular, is accused of “feeding” Jeffrey Epstein for ten consecutive years and during their relationship, with minor victims, with her conviction giving the trigger to many women to speak openly about their ordeal.

Judge Alison Nathan imposed a sentence of 240 months, followed by five years outside prison but on supervision, as she described her crimes as “heinous and aggressive”.

It also imposed a $750,000 fine, noting that Maxwell had received a $10 million inheritance from Epstein after his death.

“Maxwell worked with Epstein to select young victims who were vulnerable and was instrumental in committing crimes of sexual abuse,” Judge Nathan said, making it clear that the crime required a “very significant sentence” in order to send a ” unmistakable message’ that such crimes will be punished.
