The suspect confessed to the murder and his lawyer argued that his client, who is suffering from psychiatric problems, was ready to attack other people if he did not find the victim he considered his “primary target”.

THE murder of a well-known psychiatrist during a political event last week, is now considered by the Swedish authorities to be “terrorist attack”as announced by the prosecutor’s office and its internal intelligence service Swedenwithout explaining the reasons.

A 32-year-old man was arrested last Wednesday on charges of stabbing and killing 64-year-old psychiatrist Ing-Marie Wieselgren at a political event on the island of Gotland ahead of September’s parliamentary elections. Prosecutors said at the time that he appeared to have acted alone and that his target was this particular woman, whom he blamed for the state of psychiatric science in Sweden.

According to today’s announcement, the suspect is now accused of “terrorist-motivated murder” and “planned murder with a terrorist motive”.

Swedish media reported that the 32-year-old had some connection to the Scandinavian neo-Nazi group NMR. However, the police last week estimated that there is no connection between NMR and the murder of the psychiatrist.

The suspect confessed to the murder and his lawyer argued that his client, who is suffering from psychiatric problems, was ready to attack other people if he did not find the victim he considered his “primary target”.
