In the last twenty-four hours, 142,967 new cases of coronavirus were registered in Italy and 157 people died. This is the highest number of cases in the last five and a half months. The death toll is the highest since the end of April until today. 26% of the diagnostic tests performed today came back positive.
There are 9,724 patients with coronavirus in the country’s hospital wards, 270 more than yesterday. In the intensive care units of the country, there are 375 patients with covid 19, i.e. 15 more than yesterday.

In Italian prisons, finally, within a week, the number of coronavirus cases quadrupled. On July 4, there were 159, while yesterday they reached 643. Only in the case of one prisoner, as the Italian authorities announced, was it deemed necessary to transfer to the hospital.
