Summer is full of good things: sunlight, time outside, and picnics.

Plus, the UK temperature is expected to hit 43C this week, meaning you’ll be spending a lot of time outdoors.

However, these activities can often be reduced by the ants. If you are attracted to food, the ants can get inside your pants. It is literally.

But what kind of ants do we find here? And can any of them pose a threat?

What kind of ants do you have in the UK?

I have seen ants, but sometimes you come across food at a picnic or you can’t go home from the garden, but did you know that there are actually more than 60 ants? England?

According to Ant Nest, the nine most common types are:

  • Cairiniger -Known as a common black garden ant
  • Refla care bath -Yellow Grass Ants
  • cairian bratus -Similar to Lasius flavus
  • Kurokusaari It looks like a black garden ant, but it’s bigger.
  • Milmika -Various types of Milmica are well known as “red ants”
  • Tetramorium caespitum -Small burning black ants
  • formalfa -Ali Wood
  • formica fusca -Another kind of Yamaari
  • blood formica – Britain’s largest native ant

Are there dangerous ants in the UK?

There are said to be more than 60 species of ants in the UK, and repacking a picnic basket can be itchy and jittery, but most of them are harmless, according to expert Adrian Galvin.

Galvin of the John Innes Center (JIC) explained : “There are over 60 species of ants (native and introduced) in the UK, most of which are generally not dangerous.”

However, some species can be aggressive when disturbed, chewed, sprayed, ant or stinged (which can cause an anaphylactic response to poison allergies).

For example, the common fire ant (Myrmica rubra) actively protects the nest and can cause very painful stings.

Therefore, if you want to use common sense and avoid possible stings, do not sunbathe or settle in wooded areas where ants are likely to nest.

When it comes to your own garden, common garden ants are just annoying and not dangerous.
