Arey’s mother had stated at the time that her son was on a humanitarian mission, that he suffered from diabetes and that he needed insulin.

THE British Paul Areywhere was captured in April in Ukraine by Russian or pro-Russian forces during a humanitarian mission according to his relatives, died while in custody on July 10, as the separatist authorities announced today.

“Despite the seriousness of (his) crimes, Paul Arey received adequate medical attention. However, given his diagnosis and stress, he died on July 10.”Daria Morozova, who is in charge of protecting the rights of separatists in Donetsk, said in a post on Telegram, assuring that this man was a mercenary and not a worker of a humanitarian organization.

A UK-based non-profit organization, the Presidium Network, announced on April 29 that two volunteers it had been in contact with, Paul Arey and Dylan Healy, had been captured by the Russian military in southern Ukraine. while they were trying to remove a woman and two children from there.

Arey’s mother had then stated that her son he was on a humanitarian missionthat he was suffering from diabetes and that he needed insulin.

Morozova said in her statement today that British authorities knew Arei was being held by the Donetsk armed forces but did nothing about him.

He accused Arey of having “directs military operations, had recruited and trained mercenaries for Ukrainian armed groups”. According to her, the deceased suffered from diabetes, kidney, lung and heart problems as well as anxiety.

This separatist region of Donetsk, whose independence Moscow recognized just before launching its attack on Ukraine on February 24, has sentenced two other Britons and a Moroccan to death on charges of being mercenaries.
