A former gang member found with a class A crack in his back told the judge he was fed up with prison and wanted to spend time with family at the beach.

Ashley Keane, 35, from Preston, Lancashire, has been in custody since 2007.

But he claimed his criminal lifestyle was over when he appeared in Preston Criminal Court, where he was charged with supplying drugs on July 14.

In June 2021, Keane was arrested for violating license terms.

When he was arrested, 16.1 grams of high-purity cocaine were found on his bandaged buttocks.

He pleaded guilty to intent to supply Class A drugs because “he only shared with his stepfather.”

Prosecutor Beth Pilling said she did not intend to provide Keane.

Attorney Daniel Herrmann summarized a letter Kinney wrote to the judge.

Kinney writes: I just want to go to Lysam for a day and sit on the bench with Nan. “

He had previously been jailed for eight years for being involved with a Preston gang that used Avenum Park as a headquarters for heroin and crack cocaine.

They were responsible for hiding live and loaded firearms in hollowed out trees and used them to yell at drug users and gang members who were in the area.

While in prison, she was associated with a police officer and sentenced to three and a half years in prison.

It was because he was running a drug deal from his cell at HMP Garth and convinced the officer to smuggle steroids for him.

When he was released, he violated his license and prompted police proceedings to see his face splattered on social media.

When a policeman found a crack in his back, he was sent straight to jail.

Herman says that Keane now wants to be a good role model for his three children.

He states: “These were his personal belongings shared with the relatives he was staying with.

“This cannot be treated as a case. Just as everyone has joints, it is delivery.

Judge Simon Medland, who jailed him for two years and four months, said:

“Your observation that you want to be alone, live your life, see your children and sit on the couch with your grandmother, I understand.

“Only one person on the planet can achieve this, and that is you. You will achieve this by avoiding and staying away from drugs.

“This is your second crime. If you are convicted of another, the trial should start at the age of seven. Clearly you are the one who handles your situation well.

“If I ask you, do you like being in jail, looking at the prison walls every day, showering several times a week and meeting your children? You can see it. Of course not.

“Well, people can help you escape from prisons, drugs, and crime, but you’re the only one who can.

“The police aren’t always looking at you, and I hope they finally decide to live a life without knocking on your door.”

“You’re a person who gets a job, puts money in his pocket, has a quiet family life and really wants to, but he has to do it.”

Keane will remain behind the bar until June 2023.
