It all happened when the family was on the roof of their three-storey house enjoying a quiet Friday night when suddenly a group of monkeys climbed onto the roof and surrounded them.
After futile attempts to chase them away, the two parents ran towards the stairs in an attempt to escape, however the father, who was holding his son, tripped and dropped the child.
Before either parent could react, one of the monkeys grabbed the little boy by the arm and threw him off the roof.
Upset, the parents managed to get back into the house and down the stairs to help their son, but died instantly.
Monkey attacks are common
Uttar Pradesh is home to a huge population of monkeys, which roam freely in many of the state’s cities. Although they generally live in relative harmony, along with humans there are a number of cases where monkeys attack humans, particularly children.
A five-year-old girl was killed by a pack of monkeys in Bitpsuri village last February.
The girl was playing with her friends near a river when the monkeys started biting her all over, according to the Times of India.
There are even incidents of primates stealing vehicles from unsuspecting citizens. It is worth noting that there is an incident with a monkey that stole and crashed a bus.
