Serbian president: Everything legal in the transport of ammunition with the Antonov

by

Aleksandar Vucic also stated that no declaration has been filed and that “the Serbian authorities will wait to see what the Greek press writes before they can take a position”.

All procedures during the export of the ammunition carried by the Antonov were followed, the Serbian president said. Aleksandar Vucic at a press conference.

“I have no knowledge of it statement of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, I do not understand why they would do such a thing, since Serbia followed all the procedures. Everything was as clean as a tear,” said Vucic, answering a journalist’s question about Greece’s intention to seek an explanation for the fact that it was not informed in time about the nature of the cargo carried by the fatal aircraft.

Aleksandar Vucic also stated that no declaration has been filed and that “the Serbian authorities will wait to see what the Greek press writes before they can take a position”.

Last Sunday morning the Minister of Defense of Serbia, Neboisa Stefanovic, announced that the cargo consisted of 11.5 tons of training and illumination mortar rounds destined for Bangladesh.

Stefanovic reported that everything was done legally on the Serbian side, and there was the “end-user certificate” that listed the Bangladesh Ministry of Defense as the final buyer.

In the Serbian media, many questions are being expressed about the case, mainly about the cargo and the way it was transported.

Serbia has been exporting arms and ammunition to Bangladesh for more than 20 years, and it was common to transport them by sea, by ship.

Especially when it came to training missiles which are up to four times cheaper than normal ones, their transport by ship was always chosen because air transport, due to the high cost, was unprofitable.

Experts in Serbia ask the question: “Why now the private company Valir, which is alleged to be the exporter, has chosen an economically unprofitable route for the transportation of the training missiles?”
