The letter of the Turkish president to the head of the pseudo-state on the 48th anniversary of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus
He calls the invasion a “peaceful operation”. Cyprusspeaks of an “atmosphere of peace and freedom” for an area illegally occupied by foreign troops and many decades later there are still missing Cypriots and Greeks and calls the “sovereign, equal and common owner of the island” Turkish Cypriot people. Recep Tayyip Erdogan provokes once again, sending a congratulatory message to the head of the pseudo-state, Ersin Tatar, on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus.
As reported by ERTThe Erdogan states in his message:
“On behalf of my Nation and myself, on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of our peace operation in Cyprus, during which the Turkish Cypriots achieved an atmosphere of peace and freedom, which buried in History once and for all the attempt against the rights, the laws , the existence and sovereignty of the Turkish Cypriot people, who are sovereign, equal and common owners of the island.
The Turkish Cypriot people, who have always demonstrated their commitment to peace and solution in the course of history, have shown at every opportunity that they have the strength and will to overcome all kinds of challenges with a consciousness of unity and solidarity and with a determination to protect the his right, despite the illegal and inhuman restrictions he has been subjected to.
In the light of our shared historical experience, there is no doubt that a just, permanent and sustainable solution in Cyprus will only be possible with a framework based on the realities on the ground. With this understanding, I would like to express once again that we fully support the vision that Your Excellency presented in Geneva last year, first of all, the recognition of the sovereign equality and equal international status of the Turkish Cypriot people and then a solution so that the ‘two states’ to negotiate models of cooperation between them on the Island.
Undoubtedly, the implementation of these proposals will contribute significantly not only to Cyprus but also to the peace, prosperity and stability of the Eastern Mediterranean region.
However, no one should expect Motherland Turkey to remain a victim of intransigence forever. Turkey’s growing regional and global role will undoubtedly continue to be the biggest guarantee for the future of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.”
