Putin: “A new era and a new stage in world history is coming”

As the Russian president mentioned, the model of absolute sovereignty by the so-called “golden billion” (US and EU population) is unfair.

“A new era and a new stage in world history is coming,” the Russian president asserted on Wednesday Vladimir Putin, who attended the plenary forum “Powerful Ideas for a New Era”.

As the Russian president mentioned, the model of absolute sovereignty by the so-called “golden billion” (US and EU population) is unfair. “Why should this golden billion, which is only a part of the world’s population, dominate everyone else and impose its rules of behavior based on the illusion of exceptionalism?” he wondered.

“No matter how much the West and the supranational elite are trying to maintain the existing order of things, a new era and a new stage in world history is coming. Only truly sovereign states are able to ensure high growth potential,” Putin said.

“Sovereignty is about the freedom of national development, and consequently, the development of every individual. It’s about the technological, cultural, intellectual and educational solvency of a state – that’s it,” he added.

There is no information that the Vladimir Putin is (mentally) unstable, or in poor health, CIA Director William Burns has said in the meantime, amid intense media speculation that the Russian president, who turns 70 this year, may be suffering from health problems, possibly cancer.

But William Burns said there was no evidence to support this, even joking that he looks “too healthy”.

“There are a lot of rumors about President Putin’s health, but as far as we know he is completely too healthy,” Burns joked at the Aspen Security Forum in Colorado.
