We calmed him down, removed the tin, and gave him antibiotics and anti-inflammatories.

A group of veterinarians flew 2,125 miles to reach the area.

After her rescue, the weakened Monetchika was put in a cage and flown 50 miles to the tundra by helicopter.

The vet has prepared 50kg of fish to help the young bear recover in the wild.

The polar bears were discovered by a group 1.9 miles from Dixon Airport.

The settlement (population 676) is one of the northernmost settlements in the world, named for the Swedish explorer Baron Oscar Dickson.

Nornickel, Russia’s leading nickel and palladium mining and smelting company, financed the rescue and provided transportation.

Monetchika is believed to have found a can in the dump while looking for food.
