The man miraculously trapped after a two-year-old girl fell out of a fifth-floor window is called a “national hero.”
Hearing a loud noise, Shen-Dong, 31, parked his car in front of his apartment in Tongxiang, Zhejiang, China.
The boy fell out of the window of a four-story building and landed on an iron roof.
The girl was about to jump off the roof and hit the pavement, but was saved shortly after hitting the concrete.
According to the South China Morning Post, the girl sustained injuries to her legs and lungs in the incident, but was later taken to a hospital and is reportedly in stable condition.
Images of the incident were shared by local police on Weibo (China’s equivalent of Twitter) and quickly spread by word of mouth.
Shen, who works at the bank on the other side, had already called the ambulance with a colleague after noticing what was happening in front of him.
But after noticing that he fell, he dropped the phone on the ground and managed to catch the boy before he hit the ground, so his instincts took over.

On the local news after the incident, Shen said he didn’t know the girl was a girl until she started climbing over the edge of the ground-floor terrace.
“Honestly, I don’t remember the details,” Shen told Qianjiang Evening.
“I don’t remember if my arm hurts.” It was my instinct to approach him.
“I was lucky to get there on time, otherwise I would have felt absolutely terrible.”
He said the boy survived because the deck he fell onto contained steel roofing material that helped break the fall.
People on social media call you a “superhero” for your quick thinking and heroic behavior.
In a similar incident 11 years ago, a young mother, Wu Jupin, was praised for miraculously catching a child who had fallen from the ninth floor while walking through a building.
The girl survived and Wu broke her arm.
Due to her heroic deeds, she was called the “most beautiful mother” in China.
