“Vostok” (East) high schools will be held from August 30 to September 5
Russia plans to hold strategic military training exercises in the eastern part of the country from next month, the defense ministry said, thousands of miles away from its war in Ukraine.
The Vostok (East) gymnasiums will be held from August 30 to September 5 and will include military corps from other countries, the ministry said, without naming them.
The high schools will send a message that Russia, despite a costly five-month war in Ukraine, remains focused on defending its entire territory and is militarily capable of maintaining “business as usual.”
Emphasizing this point, the ministry says in a statement: “We draw your attention to the fact that only a part of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation is involved in the special military operation (in Ukraine), the number of which is quite sufficient to fulfill all the tasks set by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief”.
He added that Russia has not canceled any training activities or international cooperation and the exercises will be conducted with all necessary personnel, weapons and equipment.
