Kremlin: US figures on Russia’s losses in the war are “false”.

“In this day and age, even the most reliable newspapers do not hesitate to spread lies of all kinds. Unfortunately, this is a practice we are seeing more and more frequently,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

The Russian presidency calls the numbers presented by the US regarding the losses Russia has suffered in the war in Ukraine since February 24 as “false”.

“Ultimately, this is not US government data, but newspaper reports,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said yesterday. “In this day and age, even the most reliable newspapers do not hesitate to spread lies of all kinds. Unfortunately, this is a practice we are seeing more and more frequently.”

Mr Peskov made the comments in response to a New York Times report on Russian casualties in the conflict, Russian news agency Interfax reported.

Democratic congresswoman Elisa Slotkin told CNN last Wednesday that “we have been informed that more than 75,000 Russians have been killed or injured”, a number she described as “huge”. Ms Slotkin had previously attended a briefing on developments in the war by Joe Biden administration officials, the contents of which were in theory classified.
