The shackles are tightening for Turkey in the case of imprisoned activist Osman Kavala, with the Council of Europe threatening it with even expulsion.
It is recalled that on Friday 26/12 a Turkish court decided to extend the imprisonment of the activist who has been in prison since 2017 despite the European Court of Human Rights having decided his release.
The Committee of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Council of Europe discussed the issue again yesterday 30/11 with the possibility of excluding the neighbor from the council, if he insists on the non-release of Kavalas to be extremely probable.
Osman Kavala, from prison, gave an interview to DW, answering questions in writing, where he stressed, among other things, that “The accusations of espionage against me and my imprisonment despite the decision of the European Court of Human Rights are fabricated, its legal definition espionage is not substantiated. There was insufficient evidence of espionage. That is why I once compared the accusations to practices of the Nazi period. “
