Equidistant from Cavusoglu: We are experiencing a new “Cold War” because of the superpowers

Turkey’s foreign minister said Russia’s war in Ukraine has exposed the fragility of its food distribution system.

Equal distances between the USA and Russia were maintained on Tuesday by Mevlut Cavusoglu. Military and political competition between the superpowers has created “a new Cold War environment that affects many people,” he said.

Turkey’s foreign minister said at the same time that Russia’s war in Ukraine has exposed the fragility of the food distribution system.

“It showed us how important it is to diversify routes and energy sources. The war also revealed the fragility of the global food and energy security system,” he added, speaking at the Turkey-Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan tripartite meeting of foreign, trade and transport ministers in Tashkent.

“The war in Ukraine is at the top of the challenges we face today,” Mevlut Cavusoglu said.

The war reminds us all “of the importance of sustainable and safe transport lines,” said Turkish Foreign Minister.

Many less developed countries are facing a hunger crisis because of the war, the foreign minister said.

Referring to the Turkish-brokered agreement between Russia and Ukraine, Cavusoglu said that “the day the agreement was signed, there was 5% reduction on world grain prices”.
