The wife of the “black music godfather”, a tycoon of the US record industry, was fatally injured when robbers broke into the couple’s house overnight in an expensive neighborhood of Beverly Hills, local media reported.
Jacqueline Evand, 81, was killed by a robber who opened fire on a security guard, according to TMZ, a celebrity website.
The victim was the wife of Clarence Evand, a prominent figure in the music industry, whose talent has been praised by big stars such as Jay-Z, Diddy and Babyface, and even former US President Barack Obama. The couple’s daughter, Nicole Evand, is a former US diplomat married to Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos.
According to TMZ, one or more robbers broke into Evant’s house at night. Beverly Hills police said police arrived on the scene shortly after 2 a.m. and “found a victim with a bullet wound.”
Clarence Evand, 90, was not injured.
