But in his second announcement he corrected the first, assuring that his raids took place “at 23:25”. “It was the last strike by the army before the ceasefire scheduled to start at 11:30 p.m.,” he assured.
In the Gaza Strip, where it has a strong base, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad said it had “ceased hostilities” at the scheduled time, but warned that it reserved “the right to retaliate against any (new) attack” by Israel.
Since Friday, at least 44 Palestinians have been killed, including 15 children, in raids by the Israeli army, according to a press release from the Gaza Health Ministry.
Palestinian Islamic Jihad responded by firing rockets into Israeli territory. In the vast majority of them, they were intercepted.
The conflict is the worst since May 2021, when the Israeli army and Palestinian armed groups in the Gaza Strip engaged in an 11-day war with the death toll reaching 260 dead on the Palestinian side and 14 dead in Israel, including a soldier, according to authorities.
