In the photo, in addition to the two ministers, the German ambassador in Kyiv Anka Feldhausen and the mayor of the Ukrainian capital, Vitali Klitschko, are depicted, all with a glass in hand and in a cheerful mood.

Adverse comments and reactions has caused the Photo her Interior Minister Nancy Feser (SPD) and Labor Minister Hubertus Heil (SPD) of Germany laughing casually over a glass of sparkling wine during their recent visit to Kyiv.

In the photo, in addition to the two ministers, the German ambassador in Kyiv Anka Feldhausen and the mayor of the Ukrainian capital, Vitali Klitschko, are depicted, all with a glass in hand and in a cheerful mood. “Sorry about the photo, it definitely wasn’t the right one. The relaxed mood was created because life on the streets, in everyday life in Kyiv, has now returned to normal,” said Mrs. Feser, pointing out at the same time that “of course, this is difficult to understand when there are disasters in the country , terrible war crimes have been committed and fighting continues in the east.” But in the Ukrainian capital I saw people going shopping again, sitting in bars and cafes and going to work, added the minister.

The photo, Ms. Feser explained, was taken at the residence of the German ambassador. “I would not repeat it because the snapshot expresses something inappropriate for those coming from abroad. Ultimately, however, it reflects everyday life in Kyiv,” he noted.

In social media, the comments about the photo were, however, particularly strong, with comments about “war tourism”, while the hashtag #sekt was also created.
