The Russian military announced Wednesday that it destroyed an armored vehicle carrying two Gepard anti-aircraft guns in an airstrike in southern Ukraine.
“Near the community of Novopavlivka, in the Mykolayiv region, a tank supplied by Germany to the Kiev regime, the Gepard anti-aircraft system, was destroyed,” Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said.
This information is impossible to independently verify, notes the German Agency.
The German government intends to deliver a total of 30 such armored vehicles (Flugabwehrkanonenpanzer Gepard) to Ukraine. According to the German Ministry of Defense, five have been sent so far. The Ukrainian side has confirmed the arrival of the three.
The Russian Defense Ministry has also announced the destruction of several trucks with multiple missile launch systems, known as HIMARS, sent to Ukrainian forces by the US. According to Mr. Konasenkov, 6 of the 16 systems of this type were destroyed by the beginning of the month. Washington and Kyiv deny it.
