Russian President Vladimir Putin reaffirmed on Monday that his goal is for the Russian military to fully seize Donbass — eastern Ukraine — nearly six months after ordering what Moscow calls a “special military operation” and the West and Kyiv’s unprovoked war. .

The occupant of the Kremlin assured guests at an arms exhibition near Moscow that the Russian army is achieving the goals set in the so-called “People’s Republics” of Donetsk and Lugansk.

As Kyiv accuses Moscow of war crimes and a bloody occupation policy, Vladimir Putin once again claimed that “the land of Donbass is being liberated step by step” from Ukrainian nationalists.

Mr Putin recognized the two Ukrainian regions of Donetsk and Luhansk as independent states in February, defying international outcry, and then launched war on Ukraine on 24 February.

Various Russian weapons, notably tanks and missiles, were on display at the exhibition. The Russian president praised the work of the Russian military industry, assuring that it is equipping his country’s army with “modern weapons that today are used for victory.”

Addressing the guests from about 70 countries, according to the organizers of the exhibition, he also emphasized that Russia has partners on several continents who show courage and do not bow to the US.

For its part, Russian arms exporter Rosoboronexport assured that Western sanctions do not affect sales abroad. By the end of 2023, assured its head Alexander Mikheev, India will receive five S-400 air defense systems, based on the contract signed between New Delhi and Moscow.
