The core members were called ‘The Beatles’ because of their English accent. El Sheikh was born in Sudan but grew up in London.
THE Foley, Sotloff and Kassing were beheaded and their executions were videotaped and made public. According to US officials, Mueller was repeatedly raped by then-Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi before she was killed in Syria.
Another member of the cell, Alexandra Cotey, was also sentenced to life in prison earlier this year after pleading guilty to the murders of the four Americans. Mohammad Emouazi, also a member of the Beatles, was killed in Syria in 2015 in a joint US-British operation.
