Lavrov said Russia and Syria seek to ‘prevent a new military action’ – He thanked the Assad regime for its support of the ‘special operation in Ukraine’
Warning to Tayyip Erdogan on Syria, Moscow addressed today Tuesday.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that an escalation of military action in Syria will be “unacceptable”thereby wanting to persuade Turkish President Erdogan to abandon discussions of a new military campaign in Syria.
Speaking during a press conference in Moscow with his Syrian counterpart Faisal Mekdat, Lavrov said Russia and Syria were seeking to negotiate with Turkey to “prevent a new military action”.
Lavrov thanked the Assad regime for his support of the “special operation in Ukraine”.
“Russia highly appreciates Syria’s support for the ‘special military operation in Ukraine’, as well as the recognition of the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk Democratic Republics from Damascus,” said the Russian Foreign Minister.
And according to Lavrov, “both Syria and the Russian Federation belong to the group of countries that firmly support international law, respect for the principles of the United Nations Charter, the principle of sovereign equality of states, the establishment of justice in international relations and the principle of fair and indivisible security for all”.
