The images from the government plane, with which Olaf Solz traveled to Canada, are causing strong reactions and comments, where no one – neither the officials nor the journalists – is wearing a protective mask
The use of a protective mask remains mandatory for passengers on public transport in Germany, while the cabinet is expected today to approve further tightening of regulations ahead of the autumn, mandating only FFP-2 type masks.
At the same time, the images from the government aircraft, with which the chancellor traveled to Canada, are causing strong reactions and comments Olaf Solz and the vice chancellor Robert Hambeckwhere no one – neither the officials nor the journalists – wears a protective mask.
According to a statement by the German Air Force, which is responsible for government air travel, the general regulation requiring the use of masks on domestic flights and those taking off or landing at a German airport does not apply to government aircraft.
Passengers undergo a molecular test for coronavirus shortly before boarding to “ensure a high level of protection,” the statement said, noting that mask use is recommended but not required.
Der Spiegel magazine, however, points out that those on board the government plane were not tested again for the coronavirus in the days that followed and while they continued to travel on the government plane within Canada and back to Germany.
