The recent visits of officials from USA strengthened her resolve Taiwan to defend herself, the country’s president said today Tsai Ing-wenas he met with the American senator Marsha Blackburn who is visiting Taipei, ignoring Beijing’s warnings.
China claims Taiwan as its own territory, despite strong opposition from the island’s democratically elected government. China’s armed forces held large-scale military exercises near Taiwan after a visit to Taipei in early August by the Democratic Nancy Pelosi who is the speaker of the US House of Representatives.
A week later, five members of Congress visited Taiwan and late last night, Senator Blackburn landed in Taipei.
During the meeting held at the presidential office, President Tsai commented positively on the visits.
