Ukrainian missiles on a bridge in occupied Kherson

by

“Artillery units continue missions, which include securing control of the Darievsky bridge. Its operation is currently suspended,” the statement said.

Ukrainian missiles hit a major bridge used by Russian occupation forces in the Kherson region and disabled it, the Ukrainian military command said.

“Artillery units continue missions, which include securing control of the Darievsky bridge. Its operation is currently suspended,” the statement said.

There is currently no reaction from Moscow.

The Darievsky Bridge, about 100 meters long, is the only Russian-controlled crossing of the Inhulets River, a tributary of the Dnieper. Inhulets divides the occupied territories west of the Dnieper into two parts, which in turn are connected to the east bank of the Dnieper (ie Russian side) by a bridge each. These two bridges have been targeted by the Ukrainians in recent weeks, but they are still operational.

If the Darievsky Bridge becomes inoperable, communication between the two Russian-controlled parts west of the Dnieper will become difficult. In the event that one of the other two bridges is also destroyed, some Russian forces stationed there may be completely cut off.
