Yesterday, a teenager fell ill at a festival in Leeds and died after allegedly taking drugs.

A 16-year-old boy was taken to hospital and treated, but died today.

Police, who were called to police at around 10:15 p.m. yesterday after he was taken to a medical tent at the festival, said they were investigating whether he had taken a specific type of MDMA tablet in a rice field. .

They say the boy’s parents have been notified and officers believe it was an isolated incident.

Deputy Agent Katherine Hankinson said:

“The exact cause of his death has not yet been determined, but one line of investigation is that he took a specific type of ecstasy (MDMA) tablet.

“To date, this is an isolated incident as we have received no similar reports.

“Non-professional prescription drug users can never be sure of their content and the risks associated with taking them.

“People who feel unwell after ingesting any substance should seek immediate medical attention.

“We continue our field investigation and are in close contact with the organizers of the event.

A festival official said it was “working closely” with police to help with the investigation and “takes all reports of suspected drug use seriously”.

“We are working closely with West Yorkshire Police to support their investigations and take all reports of suspected drug incidents seriously.

“The safety and well-being of all festival goers is always our top priority and we want to remind all festival goers that there is no safe way to use illegal drugs and there are no safe illegal drugs. “
