One victim was in the city of Al Bireh and the second in Nablus
Two young Palestinians were killed today in two communities in the occupied area West BankPalestinian authorities announced, correcting earlier reports that the victims were hit by Israeli fire.
According to the Ministry of Health, Yazan Afana was killed by bullets in Al Bireha city neighboring Ramallah and Samer Haled in Nablus.
Earlier, the Palestinian Wafa news agency reported that Khaled, 25, was killed in an Israeli army operation in the Balata refugee camp. But the local Palestinian authorities denied this, clarifying that the attackers were other, armed Palestinians and not Israeli soldiers. Based on these sources, who did not provide further details, there was a “verbal confrontation” between the victim and other, unknown Palestinians.
The Ministry of Health had also announced that 26-year-old Afana was killed in an Israeli army operation in Al Bireh. But a Palestinian official said he was hit by bullets from “Palestinian militants,” without elaborating on the circumstances.
THE Israeli army for his part announced that six wanted Palestinians were arrested in night raids in the West Bank. During the operation in Bilata “soldiers returned fire” and the army was informed that a Palestinian had been killed. In Al Bireh the Israelis were attacked with stones and Molotov cocktails and responded by using “riot suppression and crowd dispersal means”, and the army was later informed of the death of a Palestinian in the area.
