Turkey was the first destination on the list of Bulgarian citizens in July 2022, with 182,900 trips, followed by Greece (179,800), Germany (60,200), Romania (58,800), Serbia (38,300), Italy (26,400), North Macedonia (23,300), United Kingdom (21,800), Austria (20,800) and Spain (17,700).
In July 2022, Bulgarian residents made 731,700 trips abroad, or 19.4% more than the number recorded in July 2021, the National Statistical Institute reported on Monday, August 29.

The largest percentage of trips made by Bulgarian residents abroad in July 2022 were for holidays and leisure: 44.5%, followed by trips for other reasons (as guests, for educational reasons and attending cultural and sports events), 37, 7% and for professional reasons, 17.8%.
The 1,533,500 foreign visitor arrivals in Bulgaria in July 2022 were 24.2% more than in July 2021. The 816,400 visits by EU citizens equaled 53.2% of the total number of foreign visits to Bulgaria in July 2022. In this number, visitors from Romania have the largest share, 25.5%, followed by Germany, 19.1%, and Poland, 11.0%. Visitors from other European countries outside the EU amounted to 540,300 or 35.2% of all visits to Bulgaria. Most of these visits, 200,100 or 37.0% in this group, originated in Turkey.
