“We are talking about total war” the French president is heard saying to his Ukrainian counterpart in the first hours of the Russian invasion of Ukraine

The president of Ukraine is finally heard appealing to his French counterpart to talk to Vladimir Putin believing, then, that the intervention of France and the US would stop Russia.
“I think Emanuel it’s important to talk to Putin and it’s important to form an alliance against the war. We are sure that the European leaders and Biden can unite, call him and tell him (ie Putin) “Stop”. And he will stop. He will listen to you.”
