Ukrainian general: We have recaptured more than 20 villages in Kharkiv

The Ukrainian troops recaptured more than 700 square kilometers of land in the southern and eastern parts of Kharkiv region, where they advanced in depth 50 kilometers inside Russian lines and recaptured more than 20 villagesa Ukrainian general said today.

Brigadier General Oleksii Gromov’s remarks during a briefing were the most detailed public assessment yet of Ukraine’s counteroffensive against Russia. Kyiv has so far refused to reveal many details so as not to jeopardize the operation.

“During the defensive operations to recapture the lost territories in the direction of Kharkiv, since the beginning of the week, the armed forces of Ukraine … penetrated the enemy’s lines at a depth of up to 50 kilometers,” Gromov said.

He did not mention which villages were recaptured in the Kharkiv area.

“The total area of ​​the territories that were brought back under the control of Ukraine in the directions of Kharkiv and Pivdeni Bukh exceeds 700 square kilometers,” he said.

Pivdeni Bukh is a river that crosses the southern front line in the town of Mykolayiv, before emptying into the Black Sea.

The Ukrainian general also said that Ukrainian troops have advanced to a depth of 3 kilometers in Sloviansk front in the eastern part and recaptured the village of Ozerne.

At the same time, he highlighted the role of the Turkish Bayraktar drones.

“Enemy infantry and motorized artillery units that are not protected by anti-aircraft systems have become easy targets for our Bayraktars, whose numbers are constantly increasing thanks to our volunteers,” he said.
