The Russian president has sent a “most sincere congratulations” to Charles III on his accession to the throne.

Vladimir Putin wished the new monarch “success, good health and all the best” in his mother’s succession.

It is the second time the tyrant has written to Charles in recent days after Prince Charles expressed his condolences following the death of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday.

Russian leaders congratulated the new British monarch during today’s coronation ceremony, according to a message posted on Twitter by the Russian embassy.

Putin said in a statement: “I would like to extend my sincere congratulations on your accession to the throne.

I wish Her Majesty the best of luck, health and happiness.

The brief letter, dated September 10, comes after the King was officially unveiled as the new monarch in London today.

Relations between Russia and Britain have become very tense since Putin invaded Ukraine in February.

However, in his first letter to Charles, Putin wrote:

“The most important events in the recent history of Great Britain are inextricably linked to Her Majesty’s name.

Over the decades, Elizabeth II rightfully enjoyed the love and respect of her vassals and authority on the world stage.

“I pray for your courage and perseverance in the face of such a great and irreparable loss.

“My deepest condolences and sympathies to the Royal Family and the people of Great Britain.

The Kremlin has confirmed that Putin will not attend the queen’s funeral, unlike many world leaders.
