Queen Elizabeth: Clear instructions for the lay pilgrimage to London

Around 200,000 people are expected to line up to pay their respects to Britain’s longest-reigning monarch.

From Edinburgh, Scotland, the popular pilgrimage to her body begins today Queen Elizabethwho died on September 8, at Balmoral Castle, aged 96.

Late on Tuesday afternoon, the body will be flown to London, where the ceremonies and the 4-day public pilgrimage to Westminster Hall will begin.

Security officials have given clear instructions to people wishing to pay their respects to the Queen about what they are allowed to take with them in the queue, while around 200,000 people expected to take part in popular pilgrimage.

Police have warned people to be prepared for long waits while clear instructions have been given on what those taking part in the public pilgrimage must carry in order to pass airport-style security checks.

What is allowed?

Each person is only allowed to bring one small backpack, with a zipper, in which they can have a clear bottle of water, food, a portable mobile charger and medicine necessary for their condition, if they are dealing with it.

What is prohibited

Sharp objects, breakable chairs and umbrellas, coolers and any kind of camping gear, flasks and soda cans or similar aluminum cans, chains, padlocks or anything that could cause bodily harm and finally flowers for the queen are strictly prohibited.
A special area has been provided for the flowers in the nearby Green Park.

According to the police, checks will be carried out along the queue and prohibited items will be confiscated and not returned.

The authorities are also asking people to respect the day and the event by remaining silent inside the room where the Queen’s body is on display, dressed appropriately – clothing with “political or offensive slogans” is prohibited – and with their mobile phones switched off or at least on vibrate .
