A 67-year-old woman remained imprisoned for 22 years at the home of her brother and sister-in-law, in the Molise region of central Italy. She was freed by the local carabinieri, after an anonymous complaint, and has already taken her to a safe accommodation.
Prosecutors call this whole story “horrific”. The old woman had moved into her brother’s house shortly after her husband’s death. At first everything seemed to be going smoothly, but after a while the situation changed.
