Consequently, the head of the Social Democrats announced during a press conference her resignation, which she will officially submit tomorrow, Thursday.
The coalition, made up of three right-wing parties and the far-right Sweden Democrats (SD), has “a small majority, but a majority nonetheless,” he told a news conference.
“I will therefore request tomorrow (Thursday) to resign from my duties as prime minister and the responsibility for the continuation will be assigned to the president of the parliament”he added.
According to the almost final results with votes counted from more than 99% of the polling stations, the right/far-right coalition led by conservative Ulf Kristerson takes 176 seats, compared to 173 for the left-wing coalition led by Anderson.
The result of Sunday’s election was so ambiguous that in order to confirm the full results, the few tens of thousands of missing votes had to be counted today.
Tonight around 19:45 local time (20:45 Greek time) only the votes of some sections remained to be counted.
