The vice president of Turkey took the baton of threats. The references to Smyrna and the anecdotal statements about the islands and the Treaty of Lausanne
Ankara’s extreme threats continue unabated “intervention” in the Greek islands.
As reported by the SKAI correspondent from Istanbul, Manolis Kostidis, the deputy prime minister of Turkey made new incendiary statements. Fuat Oktai.
“When Turkey shows its decisive reaction in the Aegean, Greece’s day will become night“, he characteristically stated in response to the recent statements of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis from the Elysee.
“We see that Mitsotakis says “don’t come at night, come during the day”. He does not know that when Turkey shows its decisive reaction in the Aegean, Greece’s day will turn into night. He will remember this even from 100 years ago. If Turkey does what it needs based on international agreements, it will “snow” on the Greek islands that Greece relies on so much,” he said specifically.
He even continued the challenges saying that Greece should “collect her mind” while he also made reference to Cyprus and Izmir: “When we say ‘collect your minds’ and ‘don’t forget Izmir’ to a Greece that acts recklessly, we become the side that raises the tension”, he stressed. “Don’t forget Smyrna, we say don’t forget Cyprus”, he repeated.
“The honorable president warned us clearly and categorically. He said “stop militarizing the islands, because we may come suddenly one night”. You too are witnesses of how he does something when he has to and the whole world knows it. This is a statement of how if they don’t do the right thing, we’ll do the right thing“, Fuat Oktai also noted
