A large fire broke out today Friday from unknown causes in a skyscraper of the big city Changsha, in central China, public broadcaster CCTV reported. The fire has been extinguished and no casualties have been reported, according to the Hunan Fire Department.
“Thick smoke is billowing from the building and dozens of floors have gone up in flames,” CCTV reports. Tens of floors of the building of China Telecom more than 200 meters high burned, sending thick smoke into the sky, state broadcaster CCTV reported.
CCTV footage showed huge flames in the building and thick smoke billowing from the skyscraper in the city of Changsha, which has a population of 10 million.
They rushed to the spot 36 fire engines and 280 firefighters.
At the moment it is not known if there were people inside the building.
Videos posted on social media show one side of the skyscraper engulfed in flames.
