Police sources even underlined that a frightened citizen called 911 to report that a man, namely the actor, was throwing objects at people, possibly from the roof of a building.
Actor Michael Pitt, known for his participation in “Boardwalk Empire” and “The Dreamers”, was arrested by the US authorities last Friday and taken to a psychiatric hospital after a very public outburst of rage on a New York street.
Video in TMZ’s possession shows Pitt strapped to a gurney and surrounded by paramedics who then wheel him down the sidewalk to a waiting ambulance.
Pete looks bewildered…first he looks up at the sky and then turns his head to the side as he lays quietly on the stretcher.
Police sources even emphasized to the American media that a frightened citizen called 911 to report that a man, namely the actor, was throwing objects at people, possibly from the roof of a building.
The police rushed to the scene and arrested the actor who was not charged as he was described as an emotionally disturbed person and as a result he was transferred to a local psychiatric institution for treatment.

It is recalled that in July, Pitt was again in trouble with the law as he was arrested in the same location for assault and petty theft.
The actor allegedly grabbed a man’s phone out of his hand and punched him repeatedly in the head before taking it.
Fortunately, the victim of the attack suffered minor injuries.
In New York, a person placed on an involuntary mental hold can only be held in the facility for 72 hours, unless the hospital asks judicial authorities to hold the patient for a maximum of 60 days.
So far there is no new information about the state of health of the actor.
